Private Key

This entry is used to define and configure a Private Key credential entry.

 

The private key entry uses an encrypted public/private key pair to authenticate a user on a remote device. The private key is a secure authentication approach as long as the private key remains secret.

OPTION

DESCRIPTION

Name

Enter a name for the entry.

Folder

Choose the folder to save the entry in. Click the advanced button RibbonMoreSmall for a list of folders in the repository.

Description

Enter an optional description.

Private Key Type

Select between:

Data: the key is stored in the entry, accessible on any machine.

No private key: Does not send the private key (for advanced scenarios).

Passphrase

Enter the passphrase to unlock the private key.

Username

Enter the username associated with the private key.

Password

Not used under normal circumstances.

Private Key Data

Click the more button RibbonMoreSmall to find a file and insert the private key data in the entry.
